16th flight home to LHR via Doha with Qatar.
Our Kenya Airways flight left LHR at 5.25pm and arrived at Nairobi about 8 hours later. We then had time for a quick coffee and freshen up before boarding our second flight from Nairobi to Dar where we landed at about 8.15am local time.
Once we had disembarked the plane we quickly cleared immigration as we already had our visas, collected our luggage and met our driver who drove us to the Southern Sun Hotel.
Traffic was bad in Dar at that time of the morning and so the journey took about an hour.
On arrival at the Southern Sun we were greeted with a complimentary cold drink and quickly checked in. Our room was ready so we went straight up.
The room was very good with everything we required (and more!). We had basically packed everything we would need for our one night stay here, in our hand luggage so unpacking took all of about 2 minutes. We then drew the curtains and retired to bed to catch up on some sleep.
After several hours sleep we woke refreshed and decided to make use of the hotel swimming pool. This was lovely and we were the only ones using it for most of the afternoon.
The pool - lovely and warm |
The hotel had a brasserie which served food from 11am to 11pm so about 5.30pm we decided to get a meal before retiring to bed for the night as we had an early start the following morning.
